Like many long-established energy operators, Granville Energy faced operational challenges shaped by years of expansion, geographic spread, and incremental system growth. Monitoring and managing the facility efficiently was critical to maintaining safe and reliable operations, yet data was fragmented across a wide range of metering equipment and collection methods. The result was inefficiency, limited auditability, and reliance on external NIE metering as a fallback.

Day-to-day operations added further complexity. Remote facilities were monitored via ad hoc remote desktop connections, creating unavoidable delays between faults occurring, faults being identified, and corrective action being taken. Visibility was reactive rather than real time.

That changed with the introduction of the IZON platform.

We began by standardising ROC meter readings across the estate, integrating multiple meter manufacturers including Elster, Autometer, and Schneider. Readings were reconciled into a single, auditable monthly reporting process, immediately improving accuracy, trust, and operational clarity.

Fault automation was then built into the system. The operational team now receives instant alerts for a wide range of conditions, enabling faster, smarter responses. At the same time, enhanced business intelligence improved the coordination of just-in-time gas deliveries — reducing operational costs and increasing overall efficiency.

From there, we delivered a fully customised dashboard providing real-time status across all remote sites. Operations teams gained instant visibility without the need for continuous remote logins, reducing latency and enabling faster, more confident decision-making.

Automated fault detection and notification followed, alerting teams to issues across a wide range of conditions. The intelligence derived from the platform also enabled more efficient just-in-time gas deliveries, helping Granville optimise trailer movements, reduce operational cost, and drive measurable efficiency gains.

With core operations transformed, we extended the platform further. Customised digital forms and asset tracking were introduced for field engineers, automatically logging site visits, assigning job sheets to assets, and creating a clear, auditable maintenance history. This data fed directly into internal cost analysis, billing, and compliance reporting.

Finally, the platform consolidated the intelligence required for Ofgem audit logs and long-term performance reporting. Granville’s management team gained a clear view of asset behaviour over hours, days, and weeks, allowing them to understand not just what was happening, but why.

By centralising diverse assets, geographies, and data streams into a single intelligent view, Granville Energy now operates with a level of efficiency, control, and insight that was previously unattainable.
